While they issue statements and for sure, weigh the options, netizens also flooded the social media platforms with their own opinions, commenting on the news feeds coming from various media sources.
At this point, I don’t think our opinions on whether President Dutrete is the right man for the job, or whether his decisions in Marawi is right or not really matter.
Instead, what our President and the Philippine government need at this point is our prayers.
Why waste precious time by blasting the government on Twitter or Facebook, when we could use that time instead to pray for our nation, declare God’s peace and wisdom upon our leaders?
We may not totally agree with all that President Duterte say and do, but as Filipinos, let’s set aside our differences or even biases and learn from this passage that can be found in Ezekiel 22:30:
“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”
Our leaders and our nation are in need of people who will stand in the gap, pray and ask God to intervene. Let’s pray that whatever the enemy meant for evil, God will turn it into something good.
As I Timothy 2:1-2 says, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.”
God bless the Philippines!
