The New Year brings a lot of questions to people – Will this year be better than the previous year? Will I be blessed more? Will it be trouble-free? Will I be healthier? Will my key relationships in life be rosy?
But I remember Psalm 37:23-24 which says, “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; 24 though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
Reality is, this year won’t be trouble-free as we often hope it would. Sometimes, we’ll get sick. Bills will increase (especially if you uncontrollably swipe your credit card or when you settle down this year). Relationships will have always have tensions. You’ll have some victories and some defeats.
Some of your prayers will be answered, while still others, won’t. And there are many more reasons why things won’t be perfectly alright for 2013.
But the one assuring word we can learn from these two verses is that when we let God take the lead in our life, even when things don’t go as we expect it would, we can, with all certainty, trust Him.
Why? Because when we let Him lead us, “your steps this New Year will be ordered by the Lord.” He is in charge of the details of your life.
There’s absolutely nothing that will happen to us by mere luck or chance. His purpose remains, regardless of the circumstance.
Happy New Year!
