As Olive Dantes, the cervical cancer patient survived the operation, she continued to stand by God’s promises from the Bible that He will also provide.
Facing another “giant”, the “giant of lack”, knowing she doesn’t have the capacity to pay her chemotherapy sessions, she bended her knees in prayer and ask God to help her hurdle the next obstacle.
Stretching her faith to the all-powerful God, Olive witnessed Divine Intervention once more to help her cover her expensive cancer treatment. Her friends from Arellano University raised funds on her behalf to help her pay the chemotherapy sessions, Philhealth also shouldered her other chemo session until such time she was able to complete the medical process she had to go through.
Here’s Olive’s concluding story on her battle with cervical cancer:
“Halos araw araw umiiyak ako sa Diyos sa sobrang miracle na pinakikita niya sa akin. Sabi ko nga minsan sa aking dasal, Panginoon, salamat, di sa pagkakaroon ko ng cancer po, pero salamat dahil sobra ko Siyang nararamdaman sa tabi at di niya ako pinababayaan.
“Natapos ang chemo therapy ko October 16, 2008. Halos wala akong naging gastos sa aking pagpapagamot. God provided for everything.
“Until after one year, nagpa CT scan ako uli and its clear, wala na akong bukol. Malinis na malinis na and every year it’s a good result. It’s my fifth year now so I can say I’m CANCER FREE! LOVE YOU JESUS THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING… THANK YOU SA LAHAT NG KAIBIGAN KO, PAMILYA, SA LAHAT NANG PAGMAMAHAL. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME AND ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD!”
It’s hard to comprehend how an ordinary person like Olive can come face to face with her “giants”, and emerge victorious.
It was clear from the very start that she’s got not resources to battle cancer. Yet, the one thing she had was her faith in God. Her faith was tested to the core upon learning she had cervical cancer stage 2, yet, through the depth of her sorrow, Olive discovered the strength from God, who came to assure her during her prayer time that He will be with Him all the way.
Like Olive, you may be going through difficulties that dampen your confidence, your faith and affect the way you see your future.
But here’s an assuring word from the Message translation in Philippians 1:6, “There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.”
In Christ, you are a Victor!
