Do You Know The One Who Is Not Subject To Change?

I was a Faculty of Arts and Letters freshman student at the University of Santo Tomas when our country plunged into darkness due to the power crisis around 1993.

blackoutWe were holding class everyday with paper fans on our hands while we listen to our perspiring professor talk for one to two hours.

Fidel V. Ramos or FVR was then into his second year of service as president of the country and in his hands was a challenging task of restoring power in a nation that had been reeling as well from several failed coup attempts under his predecessor Corazon Aquino.

The blackouts during that time were caused by the increasing demand for electricity. But this was made worse because power plants back then were antique, thus the need to be replaced after decades of use.

Since the country’s power plants started to break down after decades of use, that became the biggest reason why every household and business establishment had to endure the normal eight to 10-hour cycle of brownouts or even blackouts (during evenings).

The power plants sure have served their purpose for decades, but that’s how it goes in our ever-changing world – it eventually got broke after being used extensively.

unchanging GodIn life, machines fail. Our laptop after probably two to three years of use, fail us, too.

Our organs as we grow older, have the tendency to fail as well.

But GOD? No matter what happens, HE NEVER FAILS.

As Deuteronomy 32:4 says,  “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

As the Rock, immovable, never fluctuates, never fickle-minded. God is always the same, who is NOT SUBJECT TO CHANGE.  And since God has no beginning and no ending, He can know no change.
