Alaska Import Dozier Shares His Miami Heat Experience

As one of the last few players to get cut by the Miami Heat prior to the start of the season, incoming Alaska import Robert Dozier could have easily threw the towel and quit playing basketball altogether.

“It’s just a great experience to be able to play with some of the world’s best,” Dozier said.

The 27-year-old Dozier said playing against Lebron was an even greater experience.

“He was just a difficult guy to guard. He’s much bigger and stronger than anybody. So you just have to play smart and play with your mind. It’s a mind game,” shared Dozier, who played alongside Derrick Rose during their college days with the Memphis Tigers.

Dozier said NBA champion and Miami coach Eric Spoelstra pushed him and the rest of the Heat during the team’s preparation for the season.

“Coach Spo was such an intense guy. He’s young and he expects a lot from everyone of us. I just enjoyed playing for him. He’s a real professional,” recalled Dozier, who counts it a blessing to be able to play for the Aces, now preparing for the Commissioner’s Cup in the PBA.

At 6’9″, who plays the small and power forwards positions, Dozier promises to bring in the energy, intensity and leadership that could help the Aces reach the Finals and eventually, win the Commissioner’s Cup title.

Should the Aces go all the way to winning the PBA championship, his failure to make the Heat’s final roster could certainly be a blessing in disguise.
