Can you imagine living in a world without books, newspapers, magazines, Facebook, Twitter and blogs?
But the unimaginable all happened in the time of Eli…
As I watched the movie, Book of Eli at Star Movies on Sunday night, I am reminded again of what life will be when the Bible, God’s word, is no longer the absolute standard in a person’s life.
For when the Bible is no longer the absolute standard in people’s lives, chaos exist, selfishness becomes the norm and everybody will just do what they think is right.
But one of the things I learned from the people who mentored me in when I became as Christian in 1992 was the importance of studying the Bible.
In reality, every human is powerless to break free from the chains of sin, not unless we recognize that Jesus is our Only Savior and make Him our Lord.
And now, 22 years since I became a Christian, I’m still hungry for God’s word. At the same time, God has given me and my wife, the privilege to teach our three kids about the Bible and telling them the wonderful plan He has for each one of them.
The passage Psalm 119:9-11 that drives home the point on God’s word after watching the move Book of Eli –
9 How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. 10 I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
